King Salmon fishing is available throughout the year with peak season beginning May 15th and running through August. Prime river run king salmon are present in May and Early June and again in July. They are the giants that everyone hears about, weighing anywhere from twenty five to seventy pounds.   The feeder king salmon which are two to four year old fish,  use Kachemak Bay as a staging area to fatten up and mature in to the huge salmon that go up the rivers to spawn. These fish range in size from fifteen to thirty five pounds and are probably the best tasting salmon in the world. The feeder kings are present year round. Silver Salmon are present in the bay from mid August to mid September and are great fun to catch. They are fresh from the open ocean and ready for a fight. A lot of people think these fish are the most fun to catch and the limit in salt water is three per day.
