Combo trips! Halibut and Salmon combos & Halibut and Rockfish Combos

These trips are fast becoming one of our most popular activities. The prime halibut-salmon combo dates are from early May thru June 15th for the king salmon (chinook) and July 15th through September 1st for the halibut-Silver salmon (coho) combo. There is little to compare to these fishing trips as far as excitement and fast action are concerned. You will want to be prepared for a full day on the water. $260.00/ person on a four or six passenger boat.

The Halibut-Rockfish combo trips are long range charters that take you to the pristine waters of the northern Gulf of Alaska. The season starts on July 1st and runs through September 1st. The rockfish targeted are the lingcod, yellow eye, black and dusky rockfish. These are great eating fish fresh from the open ocean. $300.00/ person

Rockfish can be caught from the surface to depths much deeper than 60 feet.  However, fish taken from deeper than 60 feet will experience gas expansion in their swim bladders.  As the fish is quickly pulled to the surface, water pressure decreases and the bladder expands and pushes the stomach partially out of the mouth.  Such fish rarely recover and should be kept as part of the daily bag limit.
